About Prosthodontics
What is Prosthodontics?
Prosthodontics is a branch of dentistry that consists of restoration and maintenance of oral function. It also considers the comfort, appearance and health of the patient through the restoration of natural teeth and/or by the replacement of missing teeth. Prosthodontics also provides contiguous oral maxillofacial tissues with artificial substitutes that include removable partial or full dentures, fixed crowns and bridges, or dental implant supported restorations.
Do you need a prosthodontist?
• Are you satisfied with the chewing abilities and comfort of your natural dentition, existing removal partial or full dentures?
• Are you currently forced to avoid your favorite foods or compromise your diet in order to accommodate your decreased function in biting?
• Have you noticed a difference in your facial esthetic due to changes in dental prosthesis?
• Do you detect changes in your speech and phonetics?
• Would you like to have an increased retention, stability and support for your removable dentures during their daily function?
• Do you have concerns with the aesthetics of your smile?
• Do you want to have a more confident smile?
If you answered yes to any of the questions above then a consultation with a Prosthodonist would be the first step to take in investigating your treatment options.
